Chapter 1: General Characteristics

Your fundamental needs, values, and orientation towards
life are symbolized by the four astrological elements. Each
person has their own unique balance of these four basic
energies: fire (warmth, inspiration, enthusiasm), earth
(practicality, realism, material interests), air (social and
intellectual qualities), and water (emotional needs and
feelings).

Your "elemental make-up" is described below. Remember that
most people are "unbalanced" or lopsided, and if you are lacking
or deficient in a certain element (or elements), it simply means
that you need to consciously develop that aspect of yourself to
learn to appreciate and/or to work harder in that dimension of
life.

Sometimes we overvalue the element that we are least endowed
with, sensing it as a lack within ourselves, but more often we
neglect or ignore it. The qualities described below will be

chapters.

Your emotions and feelings rule you and you are easily
influenced by your moods and by the feelings of those around
you. Because you are so sensitive to your environment, you need
to be in an atmosphere that is positive and relatively free of
psychic garbage. Otherwise you absorb it and end up feeling
badly yourself. Highly sympathetic, you readily sense what
others feel inside (whether they express it or not), and this
deep emotional rapport can be both a gift and a curse: you can
get extremely close to those you care for but you also feel
other people's feelings so strongly that you identify their
emotions or problems as your own. Learning to discern the
boundaries between yourself and others is important.
Furthermore, you need to respect these boundaries: other people
may need more personal space and separateness than you do. Your
tendency is to want to merge with the ones you love, which can

Chapter 2: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others

The following is a description of your basic stance towards
life, the way others see you, the way you come across, the face
you show to the world. In Chapter 3 you will read about the "The
Inner You: Your Real Motivation", which describes the kind of
person you are at heart and where your true priorities lie. Read
this chapter and the next one and compare them - there may be
significant differences between them, in which case "the inner
you" may not shine through and others are in for some surprises
when they get to know you at a more than superficial level. This
chapter describes the costume you wear, your role in life, while
Chapter 3 talks about the real person inside the costume.

You are very strong-willed and proud, but intensely private
and not easy to know well. Behind your quiet exterior lies a
great deal of emotional depth, sensitivity, complexity, and also
fierce determination. When you want something you go after it
rather quietly but insistently and wholeheartedly - and you
usually get it.

You are not a person who lives lightly or superficially.
You want to live passionately and intensely and are not averse
to challenge, danger, or to facing the darker side of life -
human pain and struggle. You function well in crisis situations

Chapter 3: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation

Although you have very strong feelings and you often react
to situations passionately (as described in the previous
chapter), you are basically very tender and soft-hearted. There
are at least two sides to you: a rather jealous and guarded
side, and a much more lenient, generous, and forgiving side
(discussed below).

At heart you are very gentle, impressionable, and receptive
-a dreamer. The world of your imagination, feelings, and
intuition is as real to you as anything in the outer world,
though you may have trouble verbalizing or interpreting your
inner experiences in a way others can understand. Mystical,

You are very self-conscious and have a great need for
ego-affirmation and praise. Expressing yourself freely, openly,
and unself-consciously is not easy for you. You tend to work
hard at playing and "having fun", rather than being
light-hearted and spontaneous. Developing self-love and
self-acceptance regardless of your "performance" is an important
task for you.

Your attitude toward religion, philosophy, and politics is

during your life time. Religions that do not adapt to the
broad-minded attitude of your age group simply are unable to
attract very much interest and involvement from you.

A great deal of metaphysical musing and speculation is
