The INDRA Report is divided into Twelve sections or chapters, reflecting the Twelve basic areas of your life. I. The Structure and Intent of Your Life A. Hemisphere and Quadrant Emphasis B. Elements and Modes Balanced C. Ascendant and Midheaven. D. The Conjunctions II. THE SUN - Your ego structure. III. THE MOON - Your personal life. IV. MERCURY - Your mental life. V. VENUS - Your love nature. VI. MARS - Your energy. VII. JUPITER - Your values. VIII. SATURN - Your obligations. IX. URANUS - Your search for freedom. X. NEPTUNE - Your spiritual aspirations and ideals. XI. PLUTO - Your need for fundamental change. XII. Summation A. Your Uniqueness. B. Your Easiest Areas. C. Your Most Persistent Difficulties. D. The Growth Aspects. E. The Declinations. F. Your Karmic Direction.
There are four items of general interest that we want to take up here in Section I: A) Hemisphere and Quadrant Emphasis, B) Elements and Modes, C) The Ascendant and Midheaven, and D) The Conjunctions. These four categories give us an intelligent overview of how you structure personal experience and what you aim for in life. This general patterning gives us a context to understand the specific personal meaning of the material in Sections 2 through 11. A. Hemisphere and Quadrant Emphasis The different areas of life are laid out in the horoscope by spatial territories called houses. These areas of life show interests and general involvements for each person. These areas can be grouped together for a vast overview of most basic inclinations of the person. The most useful general groupings of houses is into hemispheres and quadrants. Emphasis in a hemisphere or quadrant shows a particularly strong focus toward life from that perspective. 1. Hemisphere The horoscope can be split into 2 equal parts, either horizontally (giving us the upper and lower hemispheres) or vertically (giving us the right and left hemispheres). The Upper Hemisphere shows the outer, more extroverted side of the personality, the Lower Hemisphere shows the more introverted and hidden side of the personality. In the Left Hemisphere planets are rising and this shows action. In the Right Hemisphere planets are setting and this shows reaction. Most Planets Above the Horizon You have the majority of your planets above the horizon showing that you have a need for contact with the outer world in order to feel fulfilled each day. You enjoy projects, achieving and a sense of accomplishment. Success for its own sake is more important than what security it might present to you. Most Planets Rising You have the majority of your planets on the eastern half (or left-hand side) of your chart showing that you take great pains to be sure that you are free to act as you wish in life. Freedom of movement and expression are important to you. You have a strong feeling that you make your own destiny. 2. Quadrant The two ways of splitting the horoscope into hemispheres can be applied simultaneously giving us four quadrants. The FIRST is called the quadrant of personality. The SECOND is called the quadrant of the environment. The THIRD is called the quadrant of relationship. The FOURTH is called the quadrant of service. Most Planets in the Fourth Quadrant You have the majority of planets in the fourth quadrant showing that you have a fascination with the big picture. You are interested in accomplishing something in the larger world. You wish to serve the community somehow. Career and projects that have an effect on more than your own life become the focus of your activity. You often attract recognition. This may or may not be important to you. B. Elements and Modes The Elements and Modes show what we aim for in life. They show our broadest focus and in the most general sense, how we go about achieving our goals. 1. Elements The four elements (fire, earth, air and water) are the most comprehensive inventory of the personality that we have. Everything in the universe including the human personality can be examined in terms of the four elements. FIRE is your basic enthusiastic urge, EARTH shows your concern for the material world, AIR is the element of abstract thought, WATER is your empathy impulse. Fire and earth are primitive and focus on the self. Air and water are derivative and focused on others. Fire and air are naturally extrovert, optimistic, active, and freedom oriented. Earth and water are basically introvert, pessimistic, passive, and security oriented. Fire You have 20% of your chart in the fire element showing that you have an awareness of how much energy you lack that others seem to have. Still, you have plenty of enthusiasm and stamina prevalent. You go toward each project with a certain amount of pre-selectivity. You are always prompted to do more, primarily because you don't trust that you are doing enough. In the long run, this single characteristic guaranties you accomplish much in life. Earth You have 20% of your chart in the earth element. You have a natural knack for dealing with money, material resources, and projects where the end result is important. You may worry about your results and be very concerned that you aren't doing as well as you should materially. Still, in the long run, you are quite accomplished in knowing how to get the most out of existing conditions. Air You have just 20% of your chart in the air element. You have a magic blend in the air element. You have an ever-active intellect. Your eye is always looking, your mind is always attempting to grasp more and more information. You don't feel confident in what you know. This lack of confidence prompts you to keep on task with the learning process. You never relax on the subject of gathering new information. In the long run, you become quite scholarly in life, out-performing most others in the mental realm. Water You have an abundance of water in your chart. You are very emotional and quite empathetic. You feel others' pain so deeply, you can be moved off the path from your own goals unless you develop a strong sense of self-definition so as to separate out your own needs from those of others. You need something to do in life that gives full ventilation to your feelings. Your sentimental and emotionally potent approach to life polarizes people who will either appreciate you for this trait or be repulsed because of it. You tend to separate people, in your mind, into those that belong and those that don't. You find any habit, good or bad, very difficult to change. 2. Modes The three modes are CARDINAL, FIXED, and MUTABLE. The modes of expression show how you act out your urges in the world. They represent your most basic responding mechanism toward all of life experience. The cardinal planets show direct expression in physical action, leadership ability and strength. The fixed mode planets in your chart show reaction, consistency, persistency, endurance and stubbornness. The mutable planets in your chart show synthesis, blending, malleableness, thought, forethought, debate and wisdom. The following statements show the way the three modes manifest in your life. Cardinal You have 30% of your chart in the cardinal mode showing you have a dynamism within you that prefers to act according to your own perceptions rather than someone else's. You are action-oriented, but you easily follow others' lead if they are going in a direction that you like. Fixed You have 20% of your planets in the fixed mode. You don't have as much stick-to-itiveness as most people. Still, if circumstances require it, you can put forth great amounts of energy in a controlled way, treading water until new opportunities to act present themselves. Mutable You have an abundance of mutability in your chart. You are a thinker and attempt to accommodate a number of circumstances and people in your environment. You may have difficulty choosing a direction and staying with it. Truth has a way of becoming a highly personal subjective factor; consequently, others think of you as not being able to communicate simple truths in a factual way. You are nervous and may need more B-Vitamins in your diet, rest, and meditation in order to be balanced. C. The Ascendant and Midheaven (Signs and Aspects) 1. The Ascendant The ascendant is symbolic of our relationship to our immediate environment. This is the point rising in the east when we are born. One manifestation of our immediate environment is our physical body. The physical environment includes our body, our surroundings and our emotional and mental states. Thus, the ascendant tells us how our inner core expresses itself, and how we take in information from others and the universe generally. The sign rising in your horoscope tells us the type of energy you are processing, the type of physical body that you have for doing the processing and the natural inclinations you have in the personal arena in life. The planets in aspect to your ascendant tell us the kind of energy and stamina you have as natural allies in life. The ascendant is opposite the seventh house cusp (the place where we meet others and the world). This axis (ascendant-descendant) is how we clarify ourselves through relationships. Planets in aspect to this axis indicate the types of people and the types of relationships we seek as well as how and why we seek them. SAGITTARIUS RISING You are enthusiastic and inspiring. You learn from every situation and from every relationship in life. Sitting still and dying are almost the same thing to you: an opportunity to catch up on your sleep. Your natural mode of being is perpetual motion. You like to study. This may mean school, travel, or that you just have to spend time in the great outdoors. All of these circumstances create knowledge and motion for you. Relationships are an opportunity for you to teach someone else what you have learned if not learn more yourself. You have a deeply rooted perception that you can grow in a joyful way. This belief that life doesn't have to be hard work makes you fun to be around. Many good things come to you easily in life because you expect them to happen. You need to be careful that your positive expectations don't become "short cuts" that have you starting over with nothing to show for your efforts. People often like you even when they can't understand you. Sun Semi-Square the Ascendant You have an imposing exterior that others find quite attractive, but you are not able to get your true sentiments out directly. This makes you are a hard person to get close to. As you know yourself better and get more relaxed in life many of your inner conflicts disappear. As this happens your relationships improve. You use your interactions with others to see and work on your inner conflicts. This is a very constructive process of growth through self-expression in connection with others, but it is not always comfortable. Mercury Semi-Sextile the Ascendant The gestures you use are sometimes inappropriate to your words. Your body language doesn't always agree with your message. Others have difficulty understanding you. With practice you can achieve a fuller expression of your true thoughts to others. Venus Conjunct the Ascendant and in the 1st House and afflicted You have charm and others are attracted to you but vanity or self indulgence can work against you. When you are motivated to help others the negative side of this attribute is improved. There is an artistic side to your personality that can be the foundation of talent but this requires effort to manifest. Your physical presence will always be noticed by others, but be careful that you are not letting your energy be taken up by posing. The less that you are concerned with how you appear to others the more that your personal relationships smooth out. Mars Conjunct the Ascendant and in the 12th House and afflicted. You have energy but you have real difficulty in applying it in productive and useful ways. Your mixture of idealism, confusion, and intensity can alienate people. To avoid this you may develop a private realm of your own that looks like "fantasy land" to anyone who tries to develop closeness with you. A good balance between social and private time is necessary in order to recharge and find good applications for your desires. You tend to be out of step with those around you and have difficulty in applying your energy harmoniously with existing circumstances. The development of your inner life brings resolution to the difficulties of energy and desires that you face. Don't bury your anger, instead find an intelligent and productive way of expressing it. Saturn Square the Ascendant You have carried many issues from your childhood forward that need to be addressed wholesomely before you are able to achieve the success that you seek. Your brand of self-disciplining seems overly restrained and repressive to others. Responsibility is a stumbling block for you. It is difficult for you to see clearly what really obligates you. The more that you express your true thoughts and feelings the more you overcome your tendency to complain. You are shy and have a problem putting your best foot forward in life. You don't feel that you deserve what you want so you often attempt to get your second choice rather than asking for what you really want. This can lend itself to you feeling very self-sacrificing when this tendency is really just a way of perpetuating your shyness. Be responsible, but enjoy life. Uranus Square the Ascendant Your need for independence seems to take precedence over everything else. You have an inner compulsion that you should be able to do anything you want whenever you want. This can be dangerous, contributing to accidents, physical, mental and emotional nervousness, and explosive fits of temper. You are humanitarian and have a love of people. Instead of being rebellious and iconoclastic, as your personality becomes more stable, you become adventuresome and inventive. Personal freedom is so important to you that you let nothing get in the way of your exercising it. When this creative quality is integrated into your personality you do much to elevate other people's lives. Pluto Square the Ascendant Things don't always go as planned. Years of work can go down the drain in an emotional fit when the world doesn't live up to your expectations. You have great amounts of emotional energy and fortitude. You come into your own in life when this energy is controlled and directed in an intelligent manner. A certain vindictive streak does you harm and stops others from getting close to you until it is recognized and dealt with. 2. The Midheaven The Midheaven is the high point in your chart. It indicates what you aspire for, what you see as your duty, and what authority and limits are about. Because of this basic meaning the Midheaven indicates how you live out your social station and what you do for your career. The point opposite the Midheaven is the fourth house cusp, referred to as the nadir, which is the indication of our roots, our heritage. This axis (Midheaven-Nadir) indicates the way we grow in life. The sign on the Midheaven shows our basic energy and approach toward dealing with the world. Planets in aspect to the Midheaven show qualities of our inner being that we wish to contribute to the world and that we wish to be fulfilled through our interaction with the outer world. VIRGO MIDHEAVEN You are careful about taking on new responsibilities. Once committed, you try to do your best. You make progress in life by paying attention to details and by focusing on the most important items in your daily experiences and completing them satisfactorily. Sun Semi-Sextile the Midheaven You have a long climb to the top of your professional life and there is an important learning that goes along the way. You keep working at the whole picture of how to meaningfully include others in your upward journey in life. Self expression and the acceptance of responsibility go hand in hand. Moon Applying Conjunction to Midheaven and afflicted. You express your feelings through what you do in life. You have a unique skill of expressing all that you feel to others. This is not always advantageous. Your inner conflicts work to your disadvantage when they are revealed publicly. Here it becomes evident to all, how easily other people's feelings get confused with yours. Recognize that the expression of your inconsistencies makes it difficult for others to believe in you. Do your best to resolve inner emotional conflict so that your progress can be steady and stable. Mercury Semi-Square Midheaven You have an agile mind and are good at finding solutions. However, there is some confusion that emerges when you try to apply your solutions as you move from the theoretical to the practical. You miss opportunities by concentration on the wrong factors. Life is more profitable for you when you are able to corral your mind into simpler and more consistent preoccupations. Jupiter Square Midheaven You run into difficulties in your career climb as your values are out of step with those of your boss, your company, or your society. You like people and this quality of being works wonders for you. As soon as you cross into the learning mode of doing business with others (instead of constantly telling others how everything should be done) your foundation in career is secure and firm. D. The Conjunctions. A Conjunction occurs when two planets are in the same immediate area of the Zodiac. The conjunctions in your chart show central linkings of basic energies in your life. When one area (represented by a planet) expresses itself, it brings along the other area (represented by the other planet). When you are studying the rest of this printout of your life, keep in mind that linking of these energies is a central theme in your life and these areas should be studied together. Mercury Conjunct Neptune Think of Sections IV. MERCURY - Your mental life, and X. NEPTUNE - Your spiritual aspirations and ideals, as a single unit. This Conjunction is a central indicator of the way you interact with people and your environment Venus Conjunct Mars Think of Sections V. VENUS - Your love nature, and VI. MARS -Your energy, as a single unit. This Conjunction represents a central theme in the way that you form your values. It is fundamental to the way you acquire what you want in life. Uranus Conjunct Pluto Think of Sections IX. URANUS - Your search for freedom, and XI. PLUTO -Your need for fundamental change, as operating together. This combination shows strength of purpose and drive for spontaneous creativity. This Conjunction is a central ingredient in your life. SECTION II. The SUN - Your Ego Structure The Sun is the center of the solar system. All life revolves around it within this sphere. In the same way, the ego is the center of personal identity and gives integration and continuity to individual experience. In this sense, it might be said that the Sun shows character. This is the fixed pillar at the center of the person around which all else circulates or revolves. The sign placement of the Sun shows the center of the individual's basic character. The sign of the Sun is the most primary indicator of the forms of experience you are attracted to. Further, this most important placement shows how and why you are attracted to these experiences. The house placement of the Sun sign shows the primary area of expression for the individual in life. There is a psychological, emotional, and physical significance to the house placement of the Sun. Aspects to the Sun show ways that the core of the personality are linked to other component elements in the individual's life. Aspects to the Sun have a deep and overriding significance in the life of the individual and are generally more important, more prominent than other aspects in the chart. SUN IN LIBRA You are a good negotiator and a natural diplomat, always seeking harmony and always seeing other people's point of view. You have a love of beauty, are inspired by ideals, and have an especially strong sense of justice. You want your surroundings to reflect your vision of the world which is oriented to beauty, harmony and balance. You are so friendly and so diplomatic that you may seem to lack resolve to others. You see infinite shades of meaning to each issue and it appears as if you are inconsistent. Your life improves when you don't procrastinate and when you aren't afraid to tell people your point of view even when you know they don't want to hear it. Be more decisive. Sun in 11th house You are a good long-distance planner. Your perceptions of life's intricacies are not limited to your own situation. You are social and outgoing. In business as well as in sports you are a good team player. In your personal life you may be too detached with ideas and moods which run quite tangent to the norm. Be sure you are expressing your true feelings. Sun in 11th house Unafflicted You know how to use your natural friends and allies in a way that builds toward mutual success. You have a propensity for building on solid unimpeachable foundations which become part of a process of social change. Your keen perception of what is better is balanced against society's ability to change. You are unencumbered with most social prejudices. SUN SEMI-SQUARE VENUS You have a pleasant appearance and know how to get along with others. You may find yourself locked into a situation where you can see more than you can materialize. The difficulty here is that your goals move forward when you do, so they always stay out in front of you and you never seem to get where you are going. A self-dissatisfaction can always be hanging in the air. Thinking more of others and less of yourself is one of the few things that breaks through the hard crust of ignorance. Concentrating on the concerns of others punctures the myth of isolation which is the real cause of your false sense of self-dissatisfaction. You are prone to petty vanities and extravagant spending when you are feeling defeated. You can avoid this pitfall by learning genuine self acceptance. Once learned, you become a real joy to be around. SUN IS IN HARD ASPECT TO YOUR MARS You are energetic and brave but sometimes too impulsive or rash. You hurt yourself and others at times through outbursts of temper. You can back a losing cause at times, throwing good energy after bad. You do this because you view your goals through a desire-incrusted lens which distorts your vision or because you mis-evaluate your own power, or both. You can guard against this tendency by learning to draw conclusions from all of life rather than just your own immediate wants. You are naturally powerful but need to guard against the tendency to run over others. SUN SEMI-SQUARE YOUR MARS Little things going wrong or opposing you ignite great resources of energy into motion. You can get angry in a flash. You can make your own life miserable and narrow, getting even with people, bureaucracies, or material objects. Excitement carries you far. Anger wastes your energy and prohibits your progress. Only real understanding can keep your energy focused productively. SUN IS IN SOFT ASPECT TO YOUR JUPITER You are lucky and optimistic. You are frank and direct with people without being hurtful. You are responsible and benevolent and can see how to get things done. You go through several changes in life which leave you in improved circumstances. SUN TRINE YOUR JUPITER OK, you are genuinely lucky. Others want to hop on your "bandwagon" when you move toward a goal. You have the ability to turn one win into another, creating incredible momentum. You know how to create enthusiasm and excitement for any project while at the same time having fun. SUN IS IN HARD ASPECT TO YOUR SATURN Your restrictions are largely self-created. You find your fears and your ego drives getting in each other's way. The result can be that you are overly cautious. Self-control can be so overdone that you become difficult to live with or work with. A defeatist attitude can grow out of being too conservative. Strive to be responsible and still see the world in a positive light. As you become more trusting you overcome your propensity to back ill-conceived plans that stem from pessimism and desperation. SUN SESQUIQUADRATE YOUR SATURN You worry and have negative expectations about the future. This creates situations in your daily life where you are burdened unnecessarily. Something going wrong at the last minute can leave you very overextended with a half done project and added responsibilities. Avoid feelings of victimization; then, patience and good discipline secures success even though it is sporadic. SECTION III. The MOON - Your Personal Life. The Moon inscribes a circle around the earth. It moves more swiftly than other astronomical bodies and thus represents day to day and moment to moment movements, adjustments and preoccupations. The Moon is the symbol of the personal life which is molded and shaped by our environment, by events, and by social and familial expectations. Further, the Moon shows our responses to life which are based on our past habits, experiences, our heritage and our individual and collective cravings. The sign placement of the Moon shows how you project yourself to the general public, how the instinctive and imaginative component of your mind operates, how you express your feelings and your most general experiences of your family and mother. The house placement of the Moon shows how and where you make day to day adjustments. Further, it shows the things you are most interested in dealing with in order to gain emotional equilibrium. The aspects of the Moon show the general characteristics of the personality that are emphasized. Planets in aspect to the Moon are symbolic of qualities in the personality that are used instinctively, habitually and with a high degree of versatility. MOON IN LIBRA You are charming and refined with a strong desire to please. You are friendly and generally get along well with people because you are basically very tolerant. You like being the diplomat, the peacemaker. You instinctively feel others' point of view. Avoid being paralyzed through over-sensitivity to others' perspective. Your feelings are so refined that it is difficult at times to establish your own equilibrium. Having your own space, which is totally yours, can help you create inner peace through creating external beauty and order. Moon in 10th house You come before the public and will generally long for recognition and acknowledgment. Your career may go through many changes but you will always be looking for an avenue into the larger community. You may receive help from women. Moon in 10th house Afflicted The craving for a position of prominence may impel you to build way beyond your foundations. See structural problems for what they are. A "quick fix" is no fix. You may bring scandals and a negative press to your life. Remember, what you do in your personal life tends to become public knowledge. MOON IS IN HARD ASPECT TO YOUR JUPITER You may suffer from pretending to be something that you are not. Avoid overstatement and exaggeration. Arrogance can stop you from correcting yourself when you are in an untenable position. Don't take yourself or life too seriously and you will find a lighthearted sense of humor that will ease your difficulties. See self-indulgence as an enemy to be avoided and luck will find you. MOON SQUARE YOUR JUPITER Overindulgence and too much of the good life can leave you ill, overweight and without money. Your generosity and jolly nature are liked and admired by others and you always make your way in life. Your poor judgment stems more from unharnessed desires than from ignorance. But, you do have a self-righteous streak. This aspect of your personality feeds public prejudices that are backward looking and out of step with the times. Here, your need for popularity and expediency can point to a deep ignorance. You accomplish much and are very successful but unstable unless you are exceedingly disciplined and honest with yourself. MOON IS IN HARD ASPECT TO YOUR NEPTUNE You are emotionally sensitive to others and very idealistic. Your values and beliefs may be at odds with the status quo. As a matter of fact, they may be just odd. Don't promote an ideal or value that occurs to you without doing a thorough probe of your own deeper emotional motivations. You may find that you are wasting your time building bridges between two nonexistent points. The way out of this dilemma is to demand grounding of your ideas in the day to day workings of your own life. You may suffer from time to time from a desire to do certain things which you are also afraid of. You need to work hard at getting continuity between your values and your day to day life. Avoid escapist actions that act as compensation for feeling incapable or unworthy. MOON SEMI-SQUARE YOUR NEPTUNE Your ideals get in the way of integrating your practical experience. On an everyday pattern, flights of fancy can destroy a project if you aren't careful and attentive as to how your moods influence your judgment. SECTION IV. MERCURY - Your Mental Life. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. From the viewpoint of the earth it seems to dart back and forth across the face of the Sun, having three retrograde cycles a year. Mercury is the planet of your mental life. It shows how you receive, process and disseminate information. The sign placement of Mercury shows your basic attitude and mental habits. The aspects of Mercury show your scope of vision and your methods for accomplishing tasks. MERCURY IN SCORPIO Your mind is penetrating and critical. Avoid being too secretive and you will learn more. Your manner of expression is diplomatic but doesn't truly reflect the peevish probing that is always going on. You are a shrewd negotiator who expresses even controversial ideas in a rather positive manner. Your ideas are predetermined but you are smart enough to know that people don't usually respond favorably to you if they suspect this. You are in your own depths and keep your own counsel. Your life is smoother when you learn to relax, enjoy life, and adjust to changes going on around you. Mercury in 11th house You have a truly comprehensive approach to life. You are open minded and adaptable. You enjoy intellectual friendships. You have a strong desire to earn your own way and carry your own weight in life. Mercury in 11th house Unafflicted You experience extremes in income. This is directly connected to your fluctuating thought process. You have great variation in your personal interests from one year to the next. This in itself will not bother you as you have a lighthearted outlook. But, when you focus on your heart's desire without distraction, you experience a deep emotional calm. MERCURY SEMI-SEXTILE VENUS Literary skill and a refined outlook on life give you a likeable and colorful manner of expression. You are acutely aware of the way you affect others. This awareness can make you more sensitive to your own values as well as giving you some perspective of personal differences with others. You have talent for creating harmony. MERCURY IS IN HARD ASPECT TO YOUR JUPITER You have some conflict between what you see as facts and what you hold as values. You can see what you believe to be the good in life, but have difficulty getting to it. You sometimes engage in escapist fantasies or compensatory activity that actually carries you further away from your goal. You are prone to having a division between your inner and outer life that is self defeating. Your life greatly improves when you demand that you live out consciously any value that you hold as true. Strive for accuracy and avoid exaggeration when giving descriptions to others. MERCURY SESQUIQUADRATE YOUR JUPITER You stay in constant motion both in your mind and on the earth. You are always putting your goals, beliefs, and values, out in front of yourself, then trying to live them. This stretches you beyond your actual foundations. Your high aims keep you in motion as you attempt to materialize your thoughts. MERCURY IS IN SOFT ASPECT TO YOUR SATURN You have a disciplined mind and the good fortune to see the virtue in the slow, careful, and picky approach to a problem. You have ability in business, accounting, planning, and teaching. There is a solemn, peaceful side to your mind and you may withdraw periodically to reevaluate your life experiences. You can sometimes suffer from waiting for something that never comes or investing more time and money in a project that was a bad investment to begin with. Always enter a project with a predetermined time and energy cutoff point and you will seldom be disappointed. MERCURY TRINE YOUR SATURN Precise and well organized in your thinking, you present your ideas in a thorough and structured manner to others. You are logical and careful in your appraisals of a situation and others tend to trust your judgment, moral fiber and integrity. MERCURY IS IN SOFT ASPECT TO YOUR URANUS Lightning flashes of insight periodically send your life off in a new direction.
